Mary Mouse II

Thursday. Pete dropped off the WinchRite today. It was just as well he didn’t bring it to the LoG do, it is pretty heavy and I probably would have lost it on the train.

Trying to arrange with Solent Yamaha to service my outboard. they are the usual marine engineers. This is what it takes to qualify to be a marine engineer – never give a quote; never be on time or where you said you would be; never actually say you “don’t know”; always assume the client is an naive innocent dropped from heaven to give you money; never use email; always have a broken web site like this one. They own Solent Yamaha the main Yamaha dealers in the Solent.

Finally, we agree that I should arrive on Friday morning at 9am. Moor on their pontoon next to the Harbour Masters office on the River Hamble. Great.

imageI give myself the rest of the day off.

Reading my book on the sun deck of the marina cafe – the Mary Mouse II.

IMG_5307Its a beautiful sunny day, and I am treated to the passing spectacle and high excitement of a fire-boat salute to the new Gosport Ferry, complete with champagne reception, Portsmouth Town Mayor and assorted dignitaries glide by.

It reminds me of Devon when “Cow Dies” would be a typical local newspaper headline.

I crown this consummate day of delight with a trip to the marina Launderette.
