18 Aug. 0530 UTC. Its only a 40nm journey from Ribadeo to Viveiro. The wind picks up after about an hour and I get a steady 9kts from the North East. Its great to sail again – peace.
The entrance to the marina is down a little canal. As I knock the engine into idle the alternator alarm goes off. I increase the revs, and the alarm goes off – relieved, I ignore it and carry on into the marina and moor up.
I am getting a bit frustrated with the marina hopping – but there doesn’t seem to be an alternative till the next stop Cedeira – there is only anchoring there and I am looking forward to trying out the dinghy and outboard.
Viveiro is another little town in full holiday season mode. They love to put up stages in the centre of town and blast music till 4am
But again the medieval sits alongside the modern.
I found a shady looking internet cafe in this street but they wouldn’t let me plug the laptop directly into their wall socket so that I could update the blog and upload videos.
I think they thought I was some sort of ne’er do well – strange because that is what I thought of them too. Its nice to have mutual respect and understanding when you travel.
