After having arrived on Friday 2nd – the boat yard managed to fit in the lift out today. They also don’t look too happy about the timing belt change. I thought that would be the case. The same situation happened in 2011 at Gosport Boat Yard in the UK.
The belt change, especially the main timing belt, is a real “£$%. Moody in their wisdom placed the head of the engine roughly 20 cm from the bulkhead that houses the fuel tank. The only access is from above – by climbing into the engine compartment. In order to see what you are doing you would need a mirror and someone outside to hand you tools and call the ambulance.
Jobs to-do :
– Change belts on engine
– Replace fuel sensor – that I replaced with the wrong on in A Coruna
– Clean the prop – minor vibration at low speed – e.g. when manoeuvring in marinas
– Replace packing in stuffing box and tighten
– Clean wind speed indicator – top of mast
– Clean boat speed indicator

That’s not so bad after you’ve been sailing quite a while now and it keeps you from getting into mischief (though probably not for long!)
Better now than later Russ! In Lanzarote, will you catch us up?
Hi Steve
I am plotting and planning. Yes, I do hope to be able to meet up….
When do you think you will make the crossing ..?
All the best
Russ
Hopefully you will be finished with repairs for a bit. Changing the belts at sea single handed would be tricky.
